ASK Hosts World Autism Awareness Day Event on April 2

Autism Site Knoxville will have a Grand Opening event on April 2 to acknowledge World Autism Awareness Day.

Admission and all activities are free.  Menchie’s frozen yogurt, drinks, and autism awareness merchandise will be available for purchase.

Fun events from 10am-12noon include appearances by Disney princesses from Enchanted Princess Parties, a Video Game Truck, board games, air hockey, a play room for younger kids, an art workshop sponsored by ASA-ETC, representatives from local autism resources, and information about Autism Site Knoxville’s programs and calendar.  A reasonable crowd is expected for this two-hour time period; noise-reducing headphones are recommended for those with sound sensitivity.

A free sensory-friendly Disney dance workshop will take place at noon in one of the ASK classrooms.

Quiet Time will be from noon-2pm for those with more serious sensory issues.  The Video Game Truck and Disney princesses will leave at noon for a less crowded experience for those with noise sensitivity.
